Egyptian Cotton Hand Stitched Patchwork. Bought in Cairo from one of the last Khayamiyan stitchers.

Khayamiya comes from the word Khaymah in Arabic “tent”. Tents were decorated by manually stitching small pieces of cloth to them to form unique patterns that reflected either pharaonic, Arabic Egyptian, Coptic or Islamic Culture and Scenes of Nature.

It's added with heavy Canvas to give it strength.
